In our vision for Narrative Change, TAAF and our partners are building a world where authentic AANHPI stories are commonplace—taught in classrooms, centered in writer’s rooms, sought after by publishers and featured on stages, screens and streaming services worldwide. But to achieve this reality requires us to examine the one we live in today: one where AANHPIs creatives don’t feel safe and supported to tell their stories, let alone have equal opportunities to bring those stories to life.

Sunrise Collective was the official pan-Asian American Pacific Islander House of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, bringing together multicultural talent, filmmakers, and executives as well as emerging artists into shared spaces of learning, celebration, and collaboration.

The Sunrise Collective will feature influential and rising AANHPI and multicultural creatives, filmmakers, and industry leaders for inspiring conversations. The event will spotlight the vital role of storytelling in amplifying authentic AANHPI narratives, challenging prevailing stereotypes, and evolving the landscape of representation both on-screen and behind the scenes.
