White House Correspondents Brunch

The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) in partnership with the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), CAA Amplify, and Enfranchisement Productions presented the Inaugural “Our Voice - An AAPI White House Correspondents Brunch Celebrating Diversity” to celebrate our community’s award-winning journalists, storytellers, writers, and civic leaders. 

More than 230 journalists, civic leaders, nonprofit executives, and corporate partners attended the inaugural event at the home of Alfred Johnson and Emily Watts.

The brunch menu was designed by all-star AAPI chefs Danny Lee of The Fried Rice Collective and Patrice Cleary of Purple Patch. Dessert was provided by local Filipino bakery Gwenie’s and Sprinkles cupcakes, and drinks were provided by Sanzo.  A light program was emceed by Richard Lui (Anchor, MSNBC) and Juju Chang (Co-Anchor, ABC Nightline) and included speakers Prisca Bae (Chief Partnerships Officer, TAAF), Naomi Tacuyan Underwood (Executive Director, AAJA), Nicole Dungca (Investigative Reporter, The Washington Post), Madalene Mielke (President and CEO, APAICS), Weijia Jiang (Senior White House Correspondent, CBSNews), Brad Jenkins (Founder, Enfranchisement), and Jose Antonio Vargas (Founder, Define American).
