Our Approach
We take a locally-driven approach to make national impact.
To root out hate and violence, we’re strengthening critical infrastructure and providing resources and support to community organizations and leaders across the country.
We do this by:
Strengthening prevention and response through our 2R3P strategy
Through our 2R3P (Response + Recovery, Protection, Prevention and Policy) strategy, our Anti-Hate National Network works together to combat hate and increase safety for AAPIs, taking a locally-driven approach to make a national impact.

Response +  Recovery

Partners in local cities support survivors in the languages that they speak so they can meet their legal, healthcare, mental health, and social services needs.

Protection
Nonprofit partners provide public safety tools such as bystander training, safety patrol programs, mutual protection programs, and self-defense training.

Prevention
Partners cultivate relationships with community and city leaders to discuss solutions to prevent future incidents and raise awareness of local anti-Asian hate and violence.

Policy
Partners advocate for city, state, or federal legislation to prevent and respond to violent incidents as well as advocate for resources for community healing, including culturally-appropriate and in-language support.
Centralizing data collection with improved documentation and tracking of data
With accurate monitoring of AAPI-targeted hate and violence, we can enable community serving organizations to share data, expand direct services, elicit funding, and target advocacy.

Increasing awareness and support

Our efforts hope to increase public awareness of hate incidents and community resources to support victims of AAPI hate.
Our partners leading the way in anti-hate
National Network
The Anti-Hate National Network is a community of national, regional, and local organizations including City Partners and the NYC Anti-Hate Collaborative that leverages each other's existing skills, expertise, and community connections to strengthen infrastructure and build a safer America with AAPIs.

"We're seeing so much more need for the community. It is about meeting the needs of our own community in terms of navigation and support, in culture and in language, and we are really excited to be working in partnership with TAAF and with all of our other community based organizations to reach solidarity in the name of belonging and inclusivity."

Julia
Liou
CEO, Asian Health Services

"Responding to incidents of bias and hate, we have recognized a gap in mental support services for the Sikh American community. The gap includes resources and accessible providers equipped to support individuals, families, and communities in response to acts of trauma. With support from TAAF, SALDEF has produced resources in English and Punjabi to help the Sikh American community understand how to report hate crimes and how to respond to mental health needs when Anti-Asian hate occurs."

Kiran Kaur
Gill
Executive Director, SALDEF

"We're grateful that TAAF has empowered us to do more to connect our communities with critical safety resources."
