In this recurring feature, we'll hear from TAAF Staff on their recommendations for music, travel, AANHPI small businesses, and more!

Nick Chow is TAAF’s People, Talent and Culture Associate and is based in New York City. Nick supports HR functions by coordinating recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and workplace culture initiatives!

What films or TV shows are you excited about right now?

Right now, I’m really into Severance and Abbott Elementary. I just think the writing in both are superb.

Do you have a favorite book or author you're reading?

I don’t know if they’ll be my favorite, but I’m currently making my way through The Care Manifesto: The Politics of Interdependence written by The Care Collective.

What song is on repeat on your playlist?

I’ve been listening to a lot of music by wilt. “The Riff” is one of my favorite songs from them right now. Boygenius’s The Record has a hold on me still and songs like “Not Strong Enough” and “$20” are regularly in my daily rotation.

What's your top travel destination or bucket list vacation?

I would love to spend some time exploring Scandinavia and maybe even check out Berlin or Amsterdam. Honestly, I just want to spend time in a bike-friendly city. Biking anywhere in NYC is an obstacle course!

Any local AANHPI owned restaurants or small businesses that you recommend?

Kabayan Bistro Lounge in Woodside has great Filipino food. I regularly order delivery from them. Also, HK Wonton Garden (my favorite wonton noodle soup) and May Wah Fast Food (️get their marinated chicken leg over rice) in Manhattan’s Chinatown are both childhood spots of mine.
