The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) is the national organization building a better future for the AAPI community.

What We Do

TAAF was founded in 2021 by prominent AAPI leaders at the height of anti-Asian hate to advance safety, belonging, and prosperity for our communities. Our mission is simple but urgent: to build a safer, better future for all.

Building Safety

We’re working to make cities safer for AAPI communities: protecting neighborhoods, strengthening small businesses, and ensuring families can live, work, and thrive without fear.

Fostering Belonging

We’re increasing representation and shifting culture through authentic storytelling—ensuring AAPIs are seen and see themselves as central to the American story in classrooms, on screens, and in everyday life.

Advancing Prosperity

We’re investing in AAPI leaders by expanding opportunity and unlocking the resources needed to thrive—from economically disadvantaged small business owners and college students to boardroom leaders uplifting the next generation.

Leading with Research

TAAF funds critical data to help identify the community’s greatest needs. Essential studies, like our annual STAATUS Index, provide a granular understanding of the AAPI experience to inform policy and strategy nationwide.

Since launch, we have invested over $46M in impactful initiatives in 100+ AAPI organizations across the country and innovated new programs to make our communities safer, accelerate leadership, and amplify our stories and histories in media/culture and schools.

Together with leaders across our community, we’re tackling the most pressing issues of our time and shaping a future where every AAPI is safe, seen and empowered to thrive.
