Washington, D.C., January 18, 2023 – On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Biden-Harris Administration unveiled a national strategy to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities. The National Strategy to Advance Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) Communities, which includes the White House Initiative on AA and NHPIs’ inaugural report along with 32 federal agency action plans.

TAAF Chief Executive Officer Norman Chen issued the following statement in response to the report:

“TAAF applauds the Biden-Harris Administration on the launch of their first national strategy to support greater equity, justice and opportunity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Communities (AA and NHPI). This first of its kind strategy represents a momentous step forward in building greater equity for AA and NHPI communities, building on President Biden’s broader equity agenda and prioritization of the needs of our communities since day one.”

“We are especially heartened to see the national strategy bringing focus and specificity to addressing an increase in violence and hate directed at AA and NHPI communities in the last few years. At TAAF, building belonging and rooting out hate and discrimination against the AAPI community is critical to our mission and we are proud to see the Biden-Harris Administration taking a holistic approach to building greater equity across agencies. We look forward to seeing the result of this important work and continuing to support the efforts outlined by the White House and WHIAANPI.”
