The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) Statement on Passing of Founding Advisory Council member and AAPI leader, Angela Chao

“The Asian American Foundation is heartbroken to learn of the devastating death of Angela Chao, a beloved businesswoman, philanthropist and respected leader. Angela was a founding member of The Asian American Foundation, serving as a co-chair to TAAF’s Advisory Council, guiding our work with her deep values, strategic vision and unwavering commitment to the AAPI community. 

A believer in the transformative power of education, Angela chaired TAAF’s Education committee and supported organizations and scholarships to ensure students would have access to quality education to become leaders who will transform the world. Professionally, Angela served as Chair and CEO of Foremost Group, an American shipping company with worldwide operations in New York. 

Angela has left an indelible mark on The Asian American Foundation and the AAPI community.  A brilliant and committed leader, Angela’s warmth, kindness, and infectious energy will live on in our work for decades to come. The Board and team at TAAF extend our deepest sympathies to the Chao family during this tragic time.”
